Water Sign

Ex Children Collide frontman Johnny Mackay's latest moniker, Fascinator releases Madchester inspired LP Water Sign.

Ahead of a North American tour with POND, New York based, Australian-bred singular musician Fascinator has today announced the long-awaited release of his second studio album Water Sign out Friday 11 May via Spinning Top (Tame Impala, GUM, POND) / Caroline. In conjunction with the announcement, the multi-instrumentalist has also unveiled first single Sex Crystals paired with a signature capricious video.

Sex Crystals is a Mancunian space jam about a desert adventure in an invisible car. Fascinator, aka Johnny Mackay sets the scene, “I recorded the vocals in my sister's kitchen and when Andy Szeceres (Midnight Juggernauts) and I got to it in the studio we decided to just leave them in the spirit of Happy Mondays and other Haçienda types who influenced the vibe.”

The accompanying visuals for Sex Crystals present a world of savoury landscapes, where dinosaurs disco and paradigms flourish.

Water Sign journeys multiple sonic terrain. The atmospheric, extended trip offers a sublime dose of revolutionary listening. A lonely planet guide to Fascinator, the experimental aesthetic was conceived over a four-year period, recorded everywhere from planes and trains, a barn in Nantucket, several Brooklyn apartments and an Australian kitchen.

Fascinator has opened for Tame Impala at two sold-out shows at Los Angeles' Hollywood Forever Cemetery, toured on St Jerome's Laneway Festival, supported The Avalanches in Amsterdam, joined the likes of Santigold and Kali Uchis at Full Moon Festival in NYC and delivered vivacious sets everywhere from a private festival in The Dominican Republic to playing atop an art car at Burning Man. Following the release of Water Sign, Fascinator will tour North America as special guest for POND. Mackay previously fronted the indie rock band Children Collide.
