Clap Clap Riot - Dull Life
After recently dropping two catchy tracks, ‘Help Me’ the ’60s inspired summer anthem and ‘Tired Of Getting Old’ the charming retro rock tune from their highly anticipated album, kiwi surf-rockers Clap Clap Riot are excited to share their third LP, ‘DULL LIFE’, along with a slew of Australian tour dates.
The 11 track record opens with a fresh upbeat track ‘Rising In The Street’ that brings the sun-drenched rollicking vibes that we have all come to adore from the kiwi indie-rockers, followed by the two highly acclaimed previously released singles ‘Tired of Getting Old’ and ‘Help Me’. Loaded with fuzzy riffs and contemporary pop elements. ‘Dull Life’ is the album titled track that creates a more chilled vibe with it’s mellow guitar tones and soft vocals and which reflects on the mundanities of everyday life. The album is packed with chunky basslines, dreamy synths and retro vintage keys. It showcases the incredible talents of the quintet with each song delivering their dazzling signature sound spun with a unique edge.
Clap Clap Riot started writing the material for the album ‘Dull Life’ back in 2015 and honed their songs throughout 2016. They recorded at The Lab, Mount Eden, Auckland, in the basement of the city’s historic Crystal Palace Theatre. The lyrical content of the record has a heavy focus on aging and the social pressures of life when one enters adulthood. ‘Dull Life’ was produced by Tom Healy (Tiny Ruins, Pop Strangers) and mastered by Jared Hirshland (USA) who also mastered Anderson .Paak’s album Malibu, which scored a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album.
